Stags of South Molton report another decent number of prime lambs this week with a large amount of leaner sorts forward.

Trade as expected was easier than last week as sales nationally have slowed and the lambs are not killing out as well.

Trade was expected to be around the 200ppk mark and that was very much the case with the fresher and well finished lambs generally 205ppk plus. Again the well covered, heavier lambs were well sought after and met the best trade.

The lighter, plainer were yet again the hardest to sell however the £100 barrier was broken 15 times, which for the end of August is very encouraging.

Best pens to 229ppk to 50kg Texel crosses from Mrs PA Stentiford of Whiddon with 216ppk twice; the first to 51.7kg Suffolk crosses from Mr JK May of Eastleigh and the second to 51.1kg Charollais crosses from Messrs DJ & RA Woollacott of Yarnscombe. 211ppk three times; the first and second pens both from Mr R Irwin of Kings Nympton with 47.8kg Charollais crosses and 46kg Texel crosses with the third pen to 53.5kg Charollais crosses from Messrs Woollacott again. 210ppk three times; the first to 55kg Texel crosses from Mrs Stentiford again; the second to 42kg Texel crosses from Messrs Tester & Edwards of Tiverton and the third to 36.2kg Charollais crosses from Mr JC Isaac of Rackenford. 209ppk twice; the first to 42.3kg Charollais crosses from Mr J Bryant of Lynton and the second to 46kg Texel crosses from Mrs LA Moosemore of Yeoford. 208ppk twice also; the first to 46.1kg Texel crosses from Messrs N & K Manning of Tiverton and the second to 46kg Charollais crosses from Mr WJ Webber of Barnstaple.
