CORNWALL Rugby Union's executive committee have met to decide the course of action due to the farming crisis for this seasons Worthington Knockout Cup semi-finals.

Other problems are now forcing their way into the equation with Kerrier District Council closing all of their sports grounds. It is likley other local councils may decide to take the same action.

Both Worthington Draught Bitter Cup semi-finals between Launceston and Redruth at Polson Bridge and Truro against holders Penzance-Newlyn at St Clements Hill were both called off at the weekend. The new date is the weekend of March 24/25.

Redruth are due to play Launceston in a National League 3 fixture on March 24. The Reds coaching director, Barry Trevaskis, will not relish treks on successive days to the north Cornwall club.

The Cornwall Clubs dates are April 7 and 8, with Mounts Bay meeting Callington and St Agnes v Wadebridge Camels.

The senior final is set for Redruth on April 7, but the Clubs final date is yet to be decided.

The Colts Cup final date is Sunday, April 15, and the semi-finals on March 24 and 25.

Holders Redruth face Truro Colts in the quarter-finals and all four matches are scheduled for the weekend of March 10 and 11.

With several pool matches called off due the farming crisis, Wadebridge Camels v Pirates, arranged to be played under St Just RFCs floodlights last week, was the first casualty.

Redruth defeated Newquay Hornets 31-5 and the Camels, at home, defeated Truro 22-6.

The draw, confirmed by County Colts president Fred Williams of Penryn, pairs Camborne v Penzance-Newlyn, Truro v Redruth, Newquay Hornets v Wadebridge Camels, St Austell v Launceston.
