IVYBRIDGE 20pts

Camborne 8pts

CAMBORNE made the journey to Ivybridge's Cross in Hands ground for the second successive week, but they suffered a secnd successive defeat, this time in the in the first round of the Intermediate Cup.

However, a Camborne side lacking several regurlars, gave a much better showing.

The "Bridgers" were the first to admit that the Cherry and Whites were much tougher opponents, and the home team's ambition of scoring, perhaps, another big win soon had to be given a serious rethink as the visitors competed well.

Camborne were again slow to settle as the home side scored 10 points in as many minutes.

Up front Camborne's pack were a handful, but behind the scrum the host club had the edge.

Centre James Taylor opened the scoring with a try close to the corner flag and Owen Davis added a second, but Spencer Owen, a prolific goal kicker, was unable to convert.

The third try came early in the second half, a switch of the home team's running angles allowing Will Wilden to cross, but Camborne hit back quickly with a Neil Symons penalty goal followed by a James Richards try.

Play swung from end, but as the visitors tired Strawford made the game safe when he came off the back of the scrum to dive over amd give the Bridgers a second round tie.

Scorers - Ivybridge - tries: Taylor, Davies, Wilden and Taylor. Camborne - try: Richards; pen" Symons.

Camborne have a home league fixture against Okehampton on Saturday.
