REDRUTH 64pts Wadebridge Camels 0pts

COMPREHENSIVE winners of this Skinner's Brewery Cornwall Knockout Cup fixture, Redruth will now meet old and respected rivals Camborne for a place in the final proper against Launceston, most probably in April.

For once the crowd was just less than a 1,000, but the loyal supporters were given value for money as the Reds ran in 10 cracking tries with Pedley and Larkins catching the eye along with Vinnicombe and the all-action Andy Hymans.

Four minutes into the match the Reds were ahead when powerful running brought Larkins his first try.

Ten minutes later Larkins again showed the Camels defence a clean pair of heels as Bede Brown added the extras.

For 20 minutes Camels contested with great spirit and looked a good team, but the home side were in the meanest of moods.

Nathan Pascoe in the number six shirt with Jon Arnold at eight, plus player/coach James Lancaster, were never far from the ball or breakdowns.

Pedley, Hymans and half-backs Marek Churcher and Mark Richards all earned high marks, not forgetting the try hat-trick player Steve Larkins.

In the 34th minute prop Jon "Oggy" Wright crashed through a group of players for the Reds' third try and as the interval neared, Neil Corin ran strongly for a try which Brown converted for a 24 points to nil lead.

Five minutes into the second half, powerful Jon Arnold crashed over following good play by Neil Douch and hooker Glen Cooper. Brown converted.

Adam Flide and Sam Heard came on as props in the 55th minute, Andy Hawken replaced S O'Sullivan with Mark Scrivenor on for the outstanding Hymans which brought a backline re-shuffle.

Referee Al Denham, who played no first half injury time, had yellow carded Camels flanker West prior to the lemons break.

The visitors had a good spell for ten minutes, but could not put points on the board against the firm home defence.

Nathan Pedley was back on top form in the outside centre position.

Tries by Jon Arnold, Nathan Pedley (this was a real cracker) at the posts followed by a try by Bede Brown taking the host club to a 45 points lead.

Down but not out, Briskham, O'Donnell, Hicks and Boyling looked possible scorers.

Winger Lewis Vinnicombe brought the grandstand crowd to their feet with his try and then Larkins completed his try hat trick minutes later.

On the hour, Scrivenor, who had a fine understanding at half-back with Richards, touched down for the winners' tenth try which Brown converted his seventh accurate shot at the uprights in the match.

With around ten minutes remaining, the referee, Al Deham, blew for full time.

This was a good decision by the Cornish Society referee who deserved big marks for control and authority with his running of the match which was not so one sided as the scoreline suggests.

Versatile player Marek Churcher played well as did hooker Cooper.
