A "friendly" Dorset farm cafe has been earning rave reviews for its food and making visitors "feel right at home".

Home Farm Cafe can be found in the village of Tarrant Gunville, not too far away from Blandford Forum.

The site is owned by Abigail Dunseith, with her mum Marlene Belbin having originally opened up a farm shop there more than 25 years ago.

Abigail described Marlene as the "heart and soul of Home Farm".

She shared: "Back then, we sold everything from our own homemade chutneys and marmalades to fresh duck and our home-reared beef.

"The shop was based in what had once been an old workshop on the farm, and it gradually became a much-loved part of village life.

"I was always involved in the family business and worked alongside my mum for many years, although my main responsibility was running Home Farm Camping, with its yurts and bell tents."

When Marlene passed away, Abigail took over the running of Home Farm along with her best friend Fiona, transitioning from a farm shop to a café and bar.

Abigail added: "Everything we serve is homemade wherever possible, from our cakes and delicious breakfasts to our own home-cooked ham, lunches and regularly changing specials.

"Our Sunday roasts have become particularly popular, often selling out almost as soon as we announce them.

"During the summer months, we love firing up our wood-fired pizza oven for our popular pizza evenings."

Live music is also a feature of those pizza evenings, and Home Farm will be running an Alpine Bar this winter, offering festive food, drinks and events.

Abigail shared: "Home Farm has changed enormously over the years, but at its heart, it is still the same family business my mum started all those years ago.

"I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved, and I could not have done it without the love and support of my husband, Paul, my family, my wonderful friend Fiona, our fantastic staff and, of course, our loyal customers.

"Home Farm is not just a business to me.

"It is part of my family, my history and a little piece of my mum that will always be here."

What else can you find at Home Farm?

Outside of the café, Home Farm offers opportunities for camping as well as a "cosy, warm and welcoming rural escape for two" in The Tack Room.

Abigail and her friend Nicky have also set up a preloved and vintage Western clothing line to bring something different to Home Farm.

How to find Home Farm

Home Farm can usually be accessed via the main road through Tarrant Gunville, but this will be shut until December 18, 2026.

The only access will be from the Higher Shaftesbury Road during this period, with the route available to see on Home Farm's website.

Opening hours 9am to 3pm from Thursday to Saturday and 10am to 3pm on Sundays.
