Preparations around Westpoint Arena are gearing up for this year's Devon County Show, and one Clyst St Mary resident has created a show-themed post-box topper.
Carole Price of Clyst St Mary has given her post box a Devon County show-themed knitted hat. Carole, a crafting enthusiast, just loves to decorate the village post box and has provided it with several different hats over the years.
This is the first time Carole has turned her skills to the Devon County Show. The eye-catching display includes a number of items, hand-knitted by crafty Carole, designed to capture the flavour of a traditional West County agricultural show with a chicken taking centre stage, as well as a pig, a cow and a sheep.
Carole explains what motivates her to decorate the post box ‘It’s on the way to the local school and I know the children delight in stopping to enjoy the display when they are on the route. Residents are so appreciative of what I do, and I often get people knocking on my door to thank me in person for brightening up the village and adding some local colour’.
Lisa Moore, show manager said ‘We are so grateful to Carole for creating this masterpiece in the local village. Carole hasn’t visited the show for several years and so we have given her and her husband tickets to visit so they can gain some inspiration for next year’s work of art.’
