The countdown is on for an all-new Dorset agricultural show.

The Dorset Spring Show is set to take place at Kingston Maurward, near Dorchester, on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.

The exciting event will feature lambs, floral demonstrations, axemen, bees wax rolling, and terrier racing among other events and displays.

The Dorset Spring Show has come from the creative minds behind the Dorset County Show.

Event Organiser James Cox said: “We welcome in the new season with a spring get-together for Dorset, whether people wish to indulge in delicious Dorset foods, purchase local crafts, enjoy watching extreme BMX bikes, meet a lamb, or watch local demonstrations. Dorset Spring Show has it all when it comes to celebrating spring in Dorset.”

There will be everything from education, entertainment, food, farming and flowers.

Visitors will even have the opportunity to engage in demonstrations including beekeeping, falconry, baking and flower arranging.

People can also learn about some of the rarest pigs in the world and witness pig agility to see just how intelligent pigs are on the Hogg Show as well as being introduced to nine different breeds of sheep.

More than 90 competitions are set to be hosted across cookery, photography, flowers, vegetables and crafts and marquee will be based in a Gardeners' Village where shoppers can stop to buy spring bulbs, or new garden ornaments.

There are also associated garden classes which will take place alongside school, college, and club competitions.

The Dorset County show generally attracts thousands of visitors each year and the Spring Show plans to do the same.

Last year, there was a host of attractions, stalls and shows for visitors to see and do with demonstrations including sheep shearing, monster trucks and the Dorset Axemen.

As ever, the livestock attractions proved to be ever popular with people gathering at the main ring to see prizes given out for cows, goats and sheep.

Children go free and adult tickets are just £12 and can be purchased here: https://dorsetcountyshow.ticketsrv.co.uk/tickets/38.
