A DEVON family-run business has won a top award.

Perkins Ltd has been named as the most outstanding advisor in the UK-wide Downland group of independent agricultural businesses.

The business is based in Ottery St Mary, East Devon. It was established in 1973 and they celebrated their 50th year of business during 2023.

On Wednesday, December 13, managing director Marc Perkins received the Tom Jeary award from Downland chairman Tim Davies, at the group’s annual conference, held at St Geroges Park, Derbyshire along with his team members Leigh Watts and Paul Godfrey.

Marc, his daughter Ellen, and the rest of the Perkins team are proud champions of Downland.

“Our customers receive only the highest level of support, service, advice, and product recommendation," he said.

"The Downland brand is well respected and trusted throughout the whole country and the products and services are always first class. Companies are only as good as the people that are in them and the team at Perkins are absolutely delighted to have been recognised in this way.”

Sophie Smith, chief executive officer for Downland, added: “The success of Downland relies on our advisor partners, who provide invaluable advice and solutions for their own local farming community.

"This award recognises the work of the whole team at Perking who have contributed to working in partnership with their local farmers and Downland.”
