FIREFIGHTERS have spent all night tackling a huge barn fire in Dorset.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue service was called to the blaze in the Melcombe Bingham area shortly after 9pm on Monday.
Crews from Dorchester, Sturminster Newton, Weymouth, Blandford and Wimborne were mobilised alongside water carriers from Poole and Bridport, and a support unit from Hamworthy.
On arrival, firefighters found a barn of around 50m x 100m ‘well alight’.
Firefighters worked overnight to tackle the fire and stop it from spreading to nearby buildings.
The incident had been scaled back to three fire engines and two water carriers by 5am this morning.
By 8.30am, the fire had been brought under control with just two fire engines and a water carrier in attendance, allowing the remaining fire to burn out.
