Firefighters were mobilised following numerous calls reporting a large fire in the west Dorset countryside.
One crew from Bridport raced to the scene near Burton Bradstock.
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: "On arrival crews found a fire on North Hill at Burton Bradstock.
"Due to the location of the fire Bridport’s 4x4 appliance was requested to attend.
"While waiting for the 4x4 to attend the farmer made contact with crews and advised our control had been informed that this was taking place.
"Due to the high volumes of calls we were still mobilised to ensure this controlled burn hadn’t gone out of control or was that this was a separate fire.
"Once on scene our 4x4 made its way to the fire and inspected the area to ensure it was safe to continue the burn.
"We also remained on scene while the rest of the bracken was set fire to.
"The farmer was advised to remain on scene and contact our control once the burn had been completed.
