SEDGEMOOR Auction Centre recorded its largest entry in the dairy section with 148 dairy cattle with 23 of the 75 milkers selling in excess of £2,000.

The weekly dairy section was supplemented with Greenslade Taylor Hunt's May Collective Sale which included 79 catalogued entries.

Nick Goss from Wiltshire put forward four exceptionally smart heifers that averaged £2,307. His first heifer in the ring Posh Allentown Berinze topped the sale at 2550gns. She had been calved nine days and was giving 27 kgs. David and Valerie Norman had 16 head forward on the day from their well known Ciderhouse herd.

Their calved heifer Ciderhouse Promotion Bea by their own Ciderhouse Promotion bull was second top price of the day at 2290gns. Two 11-month-old heifers being Ciderhouse Candidate Rochelle and Ciderhouse Candidate Pet topped the youngstock section at 1320gns each.

Incalf heifers sold to 1310gns for Compton Farms Camelot William Joan by Lilylane William and due October to the Aberdeen Angus Bull.

Bulling heifers sold to 1200gns for two 14-month-old heifers from David Norman's Seaspray and Gina families. Others sold to 1090gns for heifers from the Pitchbury herd of Avery and Co.

A twin of 14-month-old heifers from J, N, R & D Norris's Sandyhill herd by the Mascol bull and out of the Handsome family sold for 1260gns each.

Seven heifers from the Norris' aged between 13 and 15 months averaged £1240.50.

Two Jersey calved heifers from Maundrils Farm partnership being Maunlake Zik Bella and Maunlake Sultan Tweeny 3rd sold for 1120gns and 1180gns respectively.

They also sold an eight-month-old heifer calf from their Holstein herd being Maundrils Final Cut Dorothy for 980gns.
