At the request of local farmers, Neil Parish MEP visited Launceston to listen to their current concerns.

Issues raised with Neil included relations with the Rural Payments Agency, issues relating to moorland farming and the increasing complexity of support regimes.

Sian Flynn, the Conservative prospective MP for North Cornwall had invited Neil to North Cornwall following a meeting with farmers.

She said: "Neil is a hardworking MEP for the South West and is a working farmer himself. I am very pleased that he was able to make the time to come and listen directly to the concerns of farmers. I have been meeting farmers in North Cornwall regularly and wanted to make sure that the Shadow team are well aware of the serious issues that face this important industry here. Neil is very well placed to ensure that an incoming Conservative Government does all that it can to help and support the countryside."

After their meeting, Neil and Sian visited Philip Warren, Launceston butcher.

"I particularly wanted Neil to see a local butcher supporting local producers", said Sian. "Whenever I'm in Launceston, I drop in here to stock up. I like to know precisely where the meat I'm giving my family comes from. I know that here I can buy produce with low food miles, from named local farms and of course it's all of the highest quality"
