Cornwall's St. Ewe Free Range Eggs has been crowned Poultry Business of The Year, at the National Egg & Poultry Awards 2023; the third accolade the business has won at the awards in consecutive years. In 2022, the company scooped Egg Packer of The Year and in 2021, the Super Eggs brand won Innovation of The Year. The prestigious awards are backed by the British Poultry Council (BPC) and the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) and reflect achievement, excellence, and best practice within the sector.

To be recognised as the best poultry business in Britain, the company needed to demonstrate year-on-year growth, financial soundness, high levels of efficiency, and to be at the forefront of innovation and technological developments. Aside from this, they had to demonstrate strong and passionate leadership- valuing their workforce, and a compelling marketing plan in place to ensure the continued and future growth of the business.

Bex Tonks, CEO of St. Ewe Free Range Eggs said: “We were honoured to have been shortlisted for Poultry Business of The Year, alongside some of the best in the business.  To come away having won this accolade is truly a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team and farmers behind the eggs!

"The past few years have been particularly challenging for the food and farming industries, so to be recognised at this level for our achievements is quite simply astonishing; we’re looking forward to continuing our high level of excellence and thank the team for all of their dedication to the family business."

St. Ewe Free Range Eggs have come a long way since producing their first egg in 1982. The Cornish- based, family run business has earned a reputation for commanding excellence across the industry. At St. Ewe, they firmly believe that you can run a growing, successful business and remain true to their family values. The multi-award-winning free-range egg producer is on a mission to be leaders of innovation, warriors of welfare and champions of farming, turning business into a force for good.

In July St. Ewe Free Range Eggs completed a Guinness World Record title attempt for the World’s Longest Egg and Spoon Race, seeing the team race around 300-miles of Cornwall’s undulating coastline, raising awareness of the challenges facing the food, farming and hospitality industries, and securing vital funds for two charities, Hospitality Action and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

With family values at their heart and nutrition at their core, they are mindful of their impact on the environment and always make sure their hens' welfare comes first.

This year has already seen St. Ewe launch innovative packaging to the market, with a strong emphasis on damage and waste reduction, as well as minimising the family business’s carbon footprint through 'green planet energy’ production.
