A John Deere self-propelled forager topped a south west machinery sale that offered more than 1,200 lots.

The 2012 John Deere 7450 self-propelled forager went for £57,700 in Stag's February online timed auction.

Next up at £35,750 was the 2015 Deutz Fahr 6140 4WD tractor with MX loader. It was left unsold at the fall of the hammer, however it was sold promptly by negotiation to a buyer who had missed the conclusion of the auction.

The third highest price paid for a 1999 John Deere 7810 4WD tractor, which is fast becoming a modern classic. It commanded £33,250 and is now on its way to Cornwall.

Following this was the 2015 Massey Ferguson 5612 4WD tractor which sold for £29,500 thanks to its low engine hours and excellent general condition.

Demand for quality second hand farm machinery is evidently strong. A further two tractors and a 2003 3400 John Deere telehandler all sold for more than £20,000 to farmers across the south west region.

Top call for diggers was the 2007 Hyundai Robex 55-7 digger which reached £12,500 while a well-used 2001 JCB JS130 excavator achieved £11,250.

Starting off the string of high-quality farm machinery over £10,000 was the very well presented 2020 McHale straw chopper, which was part of a continuing reduction sale on behalf of a Winkleigh based farmer.

The quality of this machine interested buyers from all over the country but it eventually found its new owner in Somerset for the sum of £11,750.

Just shy of this figure was £11,500 for a late entry being a 2016 Watson ballast roller - despite it only being listed into the sale three days prior to its conclusion.

Achieving the same figure was a 2016 Abbey slurry tanker straight from farm.

Shortly behind this was one of many UTVs and ATVs entered into the sale with £11,250 being the final price for a 2020 John Deere XUV 856M Gator. The owner had consigned the item after being disappointed with the offer tabled from a retailer when attempting to trade it back for a newer model.

A 2007 McHale F550 baler amassed over 400 lot views and eventually reached over £9,000.

An unusual A Palms 10 tonne timber trailer complete with the timber grab attachment made £8,750 and is on its way to Liskeard.

Livestock equipment was highly sort after with a ScotPen sheep handling system achieving £7,000 which was sold under the instructions of Devon County Council while a large quantity of tidy and straight six foot galvanised mesh lined hurdles soared to a top price of £47.96 each.

The next Stags machinery sale begins on March 9 with another very large entry expected, including four dispersal and reduction sales set to be included.
