The police offered a reason to smile on a mizzly day this morning when they made reference to classic cult comedy Hot Fuzz on encountering a swan.
Mendip Police shared these photos on Twitter with the iconic comment: "It's just the one swan, actually."
In the iconic film, Hot Fuzz, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's characters - tough ex-Met Police officer PC Nicholas Angel and his inexperienced partner, PC Danny Butterman, are on the hunt for a badly-behaved swan in the village.
After failing to apprehend the bird, the local shopkeeper enquires: "No luck catching them swans then?" to which PC Butterman defensively counters : "It's just the one swan actually."
Mendip Police succeeded in apprehending this swan, which they then took to a wildlife hospital.
