Penryn 0pts Truro 19pts
TRURO completed a satisfactory weekend when they moved into the next round of the Skinner's Brewery Cornwall Knockout Cup after a comfortable 19-0 win away to Penryn on Sunday.
Truro had won away at Crediton the day before and the Borough had won their first game of the season away to Ivybridge, so the two teams took the field on a fairly even footing. For the Borough, however, there was to be no repeat of the previous day as Truro took command.
Truro were the better team on the day and ran out winners by 19 points to 0. The score was, perhaps, a little flattering to Truro as Penryn restricted them to only one try scored by centre Justin Irons after 25 minutes. Full back Scott Martin had no difficulty with the conversion.
Before that Truro had gone ahead with a penalty goal in the first minute of the game after a Penryn infringement.
The visitors completed their first half scoring with another penalty to give them a 13-0 lead at the break.
Playing down the slope in the second half the Borough limited the visitors to two further penalty goals, but in the end the heavier Truro pack dominated, giving their backs possession and position, from which they were able to add to their first half scores.
Although the Borough battled manfully, Truro well-deserved their victory that has earned them a semi final spot at home to Bude later in the season.
