Firefighters had to leave all the fun of the fair as they were called to a field burning in Moreton yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
The crew from Bere Regis Fire Station were visiting the Winterbourne Whitechurch school fête when they were mobilised to the fire.
The fire had originally been spreading across open ground but had been extinguished prior to our arrival, leaving some round straw bales smouldering.
The crew made the area safe by isolating the smouldering bales and damping down the surrounding area.

They visited the site again that evening to reinspect and make sure that it was still safe.
A spokesperson said: "We're sorry to have had to leave the fête early, but we hope that the sight of us leaving on blue lights was some consolation!"
