A barn caught fire in a village near Blandford Forum on Sunday night (March 27).

The fire service was called just after 10pm with reports of a barn on fire in Durweston.

Crews from Sturminster Newton, Shaftesbury, Blandford and Bere Regis were mobilised, together with a water carrier from Yeovil and the incident support unit from Hamworthy.

A spokesperson from Bere Regis Fire Station said: "Yesterday we were called out as part of a "makes pump five" call to assist at a barn fire north of Blandford Forum.

"On this occasion, rather than fighting the fire itself, we performed the command support function helping the incident commander manage the information relating to the incident.

"Thankfully, the barn was only used for storage and no livestock were involved in the fire."
