A tractor was shunted from the rear on a dual carriageway in Devon this morning.
Police have said that the driver had a very lucky escape - not least because the tractor was left facing the wrong way on the carriageway, in the direct path of oncoming traffic.
A dropside lorry hit the tractor from behind on the A30 close to the M5 junction 31 at Exeter at 8.35am this morning (Friday, March 4).
An ambulance was mobilised to check the drivers, but it appears that, fortunately, they received only minor injuries in the accident.
Three fire crews from Middlemoor and Danes Castle attended.
Firefighters made the vehicles and scene safe by isolating the vehicles and containing spilt fuels with an environmental protection pack.
Police report that both vehicles have suffered significant damage.
The Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team shared this photo on Twitter at 9.50am with a warning to drivers to be alert to agricultural machinery which moves slowly.
They said: "This tractor driver had a very lucky escape this morning after being struck from the rear on the A30 at Exeter.
"Please be aware of slow-moving agricultural vehicles."
