A group of men set their car on fire after appearing to have been hare coursing near Tewkesbury.

A farmer found dead hares on his land and reported to police that he had seen a car that raised suspicions.

Police believe that a group of men had been hunting in the field off Dibden Lane in Alderton at 10.30pm on Saturday, December 4.

They went on to set their car on fire at around 3am the following morning.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police rural crime team said: "Police attended a field off Dibden Lane in Alderton on the morning of Sunday 5 December after a farmer reported finding dead hares on his land and seeing a vehicle acting suspiciously.

"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the men who were involved as well as establishing the owner of the burnt out car.

"Anyone with information or CCTV/dashcam footage they feel may be relevant is asked to please get in contact."
