A major fire has broken out at a farmhouse in Cornwall this afternoon.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service's Critical Control received multiple 999 calls just after 4.40pm today (Monday) after a fire broke out in Church View Road, Camborne.

The fire service has confirmed that the blaze involves a detached farmhouse, which is well alight. 

The property is described by the fire service as being derelict. 

Fire crews from a number of stations across Cornwall are now at the scene battling the flames, with the initial firefighters on the scene calling for further back up at around 5.30pm as the fire continued to spread.

There are now six pumps at the scene, along with three officers, an incident command unit, operational support vehicle and a light 4x4 L4P pump.

A fire service spokesperson said: "Multiple resources are currently in attendance at a derelict building fire in Church View Road, Camborne following multiple 999 calls being made, starting at 4.42pm.

"On arrival, crews confirmed a large detached farmhouse approximately ten metres by eight metres well alight."
