A large forage harvester was completely destroyed by fire last night (July 15) in a field near Gillingham.
At just after 8pm Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service were called to several reports of a large forage harvester on fire in a field off Nyland Lane in Nyland.
Two engines from Gillingham and Shaftesbury were mobilised, together with a water carrier from Yeovil.
One of the pumps was used as a water shuttle to put the vehicle fire out, as well as the grass surrounding the machine.
Even though the fire was successfully extinguished just 40 minutes later, the forage harvester was completely destroyed.
