Fire crews used 10,000 litres of water to manage a large flatbed lorry on fire in a field near Bridport last night (Wednesday, June 16).

The fire broke out in a field between Bradpole and Loders around 10.20pm.

Both fire engines and the water carrier from Bridport attended, along with a Land Rover from Beaminster Fire Station.

On arrival, crews found a large flat bed vehicle well alight in a field.

Bridport's 4x4 appliance made its way off road to the fire and set up an initial attack with hose reel jets.

Once the water carrier was in place, multiple lengths of hose were laid out.

Using a light portable pump the carrier supplied its 10,000 litres of water to the 4x4 appliance, allowing crews to use two main lines to tackle the fire.

Dorset Police were requested to attend.
