The driver of a tractor with a trailer loaded with silage was stopped by the police between Bodmin and Launceston on Monday.
Officers from Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team stopped the vehicle when they noticed that there were just two bolts holding the weighty load.
After examination, they reported the driver and owner for transporting an insecure load that they considered likely to cause danger.
They also saw that there was no rear registration plate - and reported the driver and owner for that, too.
Police are reminding farmers to secure their loads properly at this busy time of year.
