Every since he was a young child schoolboy Harvey Waters has wanted to buy his own tractor.

With his family farming at Godolphin in Cornwall, the 14-year-old's biggest ambition was to have his own machine – and last month it seemed as though that dream was about to come true.

Having saved hard by running a vegetable box service and carrying out odd jobs for people, all alongside his schoolwork at Helston Community College, Harvey managed to save up enough money.

After some searching online he found an advert on eBay for a John Deere tractor, priced at £8,400.

Following numerous phone calls and emails with the seller, Harvey decided, with the permission of his parents, to buy the tractor.

However, this was the start of what would become a nightmare for Harvey, who has been left "absolutely devastated" and with his confidence in tatters.

His mum Rachel explained: "Due to Covid restrictions we couldn’t look at the tractor in person, but everything appeared legitimate.

"Unfortunately this turned out to be a bogus seller, and despite using PayPal the seller has stolen his hard-earned money.

"After contacting both eBay and PayPayl, sadly there is nothing they can do. As a result, Harvey has lost all of his savings.

"He is absolutely devastated, with his dreams and confidence in tatters."

Harvey's family, who live in Hayle, are have now set up a Go Fund Me page to help recoup some of Harvey's losses.

Found at www.gofundme.com/f/harveys-tractor-fund, it has already raised more than £3,000 in two days.

Rachel added: "Any help towards getting Harvey some of his savings back would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you for helping to restore Harvey’s faith in humanity."
