Cornish Pirates have announced that fly-half's Harry Bazalgette and Luke Scully have joined the club.

Bazalgette, 22, joins the Pirates after previously honing his skills with Exeter University RFC and Wimborne RFC.

Inverness-born Harry has previously represented Dorset & Wiltshire under 20's and proved himself to be a prolific scorer with the boot.

Cornish Pirates' joint head coach, Gavin Cattle, said: "[He was] brought to our attention, looking at Harry play and then seeing him training we liked what we saw. He has a strong kicking game, leads by example and has good knowledge and game management for a young man.

“Although not tested at Championship level, Harry undoubtedly shows considerable potential and is someone who will be exciting to work with.”

Neath-born, Luke Scully, has joined the club on loan from Welsh regional side, Cardiff Blues.

Scully, 20, who is a fly-half who can also slot in at full-back, featured in age grade rugby with Ospreys and played for Wales under 18s before joining the senior academy at Worcester Warriors in 2018.

During his time at Sixways, he played Premiership Rugby Sevens in both 2018 and 2019, was dual registered with Hartpury, and in 2020 was capped by Wales under 20s.

In February 2020, it was announced he would be joining Cardiff Blues for the 2020-21 campaign.

In regards to the loan signing of Scully, Cattle said: “Luke is a very talented young player who Cardiff Blues see as one developing well for the future. He certainly has great potential, has a strong kicking game and has already settled in very well here at the Pirates.

“Having played for Hartpury during his time at Worcester, he also has some knowledge reference what the Championship is about.”

The two new incoming signings come at the same time as Argentine, Javier Rojas Alvarez, departs the club.
