A calf was safely rescued after falling into an underground slurry pit and becoming trapped.
The calf was found in the slurry pit off the Talaton Road in Whimple in central Devon on Sunday evening (February 21).
Crew from Ottery St Mary ensured that the calf was safe and was not going to injure itself any further by using straps and lines while they waited for further assistance from the special rescue team from Bridgwater.
Together they made an assessment and used animal rescue equipment and small tools to get to and lift the calf.
The calf was rescued successfully by the crews, it was not injured and it was left safely in the care of the farmer and its mother.
