The first farm in Devon has had welfare standards for its pigs recognised with an international certificate.

The cattle and pigs at Springwater Farm are now Certified Animal Welfare Approved by A Greener World (AGW).

The Certified Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) by AGW label verifies animals are raised outdoors on pasture in accordance with world-renowned welfare standards using sustainable agriculture methods on an independent farm.

Amelia Millman and Jason Greenway operate Springwater Farm in Clyst St. Lawrence, Cullompton, as National Trust tenants.

Amelia Millman of Springwater Farm says,

“As one of the new generation of British farmers, we want to promote high-welfare and sustainable farming practices as much as possible.

"We believe it is important for both the producer and the consumer to know exactly what it is they are buying or selling.

"We chose to certify our farm with A Greener World to assure our customers of our farming standards.”

Springwater Farm wanted third-party validation to demonstrate its exceptional welfare and environmental practices.

The cattle at Springwater Farm are also Certified Grassfed by AGW.

This label is the only grassfed label to guarantee a 100 per cent grassfed diet, audited annually to ensure farms are meeting rigorous animal welfare standards.
