A CAMPAIGN to bring a refugee family to Bridport will be raising funds through the hosting of a garage sale this weekend.

Bridport Refugee Support Campaign will be hosting a garage sale for residents to pick up a variety of bargains, including household and kitchen equipment, clothes, small bits of furniture, CDs and DVDs, and pots of chutney and jams.

The sale will take place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December from 10am to 2pm each day, at 1 Britlands, Skilling Hill Road, Bridport, DT6 5LA – just up the hill from the leisure centre.

The event's organiser, Catherine Scott, said: “The campaign is really taking off now. We have achieved charity status despite the the Covid lockdown, and our recent virtual dinner organised by SeaFair was a great success.

"Campaign trustees have helped by looking out some of their treasures and have found wonderful things they are happy to give to the sale, so please come along, and buy the fabulous things we have assembled. The garage looks like a real Aladdin’s cave.”

All proceeds will go to the local charity Bridport Refugee Support Campaign, who are hoping to raise enough money to be able welcome and resettle a refugee family within the Bridport community.

The event will be socially distanced, masks must be worn, with a limit of 2 couples at any time in place. To book a 15 minute time slot, text or call 07788 652375.
