A SEAL pup has been rescued after being discovered on a Burton Bradstock beach.
An NCI watch keeper was alerted to the presence of the seal at Hive Beach on Sunday, November 29 by a member of the public. The resident told the watch keeper, Debbie, that the pup look malnourished and appeared to be in a lot of distress.
Debbie carried out a brief check on the pup before calling the British Diving Marine Wildlife Trust.
The seal was placed into a car and taken to a local vets two hours later. He was put on a drip before an onward journey to a Weymouth vet for the night where he was kept under a lamp.
The pup, which has now been named Vader, has since been transported to Mallydams Wood RSPCA in East Sussex where he undergoing rehabilitation to gain some weight before being put back into the sea.
Vader has now come off the drip and is now able to eat minced fish.
