POLICE are hunting offenders who have fired scores of shots at road signs in a north Dorset village.

Holes have appeared on signs at the entrance to Fontmell Magna, between Blandford and Shaftesbury.

Now officers have appealed for anyone with information about the damage, in Mill street, to come forward.

Police were called at 11.15am yesterday and they were told the damage had been caused by a firearm.

Inspector Simon Perry, of North Dorset police, said: “I understand there might be concern in the community in relation to this matter but I would like to reassure residents that a full investigation is underway.
