THE number of coronavirus cases in Dorset has risen by just 91.

Over the last 24 hours, 91 people tested positive for Covid-19 across the county.

The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Dorset increased by 18 over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 3,119 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Thursday (November 26) in Dorset, up from 3,101 the same time on Wednesday.

The rate of infection in Dorset now stands at 824 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 2,408.

Meanwhile in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area, 73 cases were confirmed over the last 24 hours.

Public Health England figures show that 7,022 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Thursday in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, up from 6,949 the same time on Wednesday.

The rate of infection in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole now stands at 1,776 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 2,408.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 17,555 over the period, to 1,574,562.

The latest cases in Dorset were among the 76,688 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 955 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.​
