MEET the lockdown marathon runner.

Rebecca Danicic has come up with a novel way to keep herself active and raise money for a good cause while she is self isolating.

Rebecca, 29, is a keen long distance runner but is having to stay indoors as she recently returned from Greece.

However she has decided to take on a marathon while remaining in her flat in West Bay.

This Saturday she will spend several hours running laps of her home, from the lounge to the patio, in a fundraiser for the NHS.

She said: "To relieve the strain and tedium of self isolation, I have decided to do something very tedious and strenuous - I am running a marathon, in my living room! That is 26.2 miles, or about 5,115 lengths of my front room, from couch to patio. I am doing it to raise money for NHS Charities Together - an umbrella organisation providing resources and services to frontline NHS staff, hospital patients and high-risk individuals who are in self-isolation around the country."

Consultant Rebecca has recently moved to West Bay from London where she worked for a private equity firm.

She can't wait to get out and run the coastal paths, but in the meantime she has come up with her challenge which she is calling #Couch2patio lockdown marathon.

As she lives in a ground floor flat at Pier Terrace near the harbour, Rebecca hopes passers-by will stop to watch and shout messages of support and she runs on to her patio and back to her lounge. She will be starting around 8am on Saturday.
