Registration is now open to get involved with Threshold’s Big Swindon 2020 Supporting the Homeless Bubbles fundraising event.

Each year the homeless charity hosts Swindon’s Big Sleep Out for the Homeless to raise money for its services. But because of the coronavirus restrictions, this year Threshold is asking the public, families, businesses and all supporters to join together and host an event within their own ‘support bubbles’.

Participants are encouraged to to take part from work or home, sleeping out in their garden, garage or sitting room with the radiator off, between 8pm on December 11 and 7.30am on December 12.

The aim is to raise awareness and understanding of the plight of the homeless as well as sponsorship.

With just over two weeks to go the fundraising target has been set at £50,000.

Chief development officer Michael Keenan said: “For over 48 years, Threshold has made a meaningful difference to the lives of so many homeless people and at present, during this most unprecedented, dangerous and challenging time, continuing to provide our unrelenting frontline support is absolutely critical to those experiencing homelessness. Now more than ever before, the public solidarity with our mission and their financial fundraising that supports our work is so very crucial to helping us to continue to deliver care, over and above what could normally be expected in any given year.”
