Police carrying out a drugs search at an address in Bristol last week came to the aid of a chicken after finding it living in conditions that fell 'fowl' of acceptable standards.
Officers discovered the animal in the bathroom where it was being kept as a pet by its owner, who was detained as part of drugs enforcement action.

Local beat sergeant PS Tooth said: "I felt a bath tub didn’t amount to free range living and was not much of a ‘home sweet home’."
The chicken was seized and brought to the local police station.
It has now been re-homed in a chicken sanctuary for poorly treated chickens.
