A POLICE training supervisor who cleared his name after being accused of sexually assaulting two women has resigned.
Ian Williams, 55, of Combwich, was found not guilty of the assaults at a boozy pub party attended by officers and police staff.
Mr Williams was acquitted at Plymouth Magistrates' District Court earlier this month, although the judge told him his behaviour at the retirement bash in January was "inappropriate".
Mr Williams had told the court he had touched one of the women, but claimed it was not in a sexual way.
He had been arrested in February when the allegations came to light and was suspended pending the trial.
A Devon and Cornwall police spokesman today (Monday) said: "Following the court hearing, Mr Williams informed the force that he wished to retire with immediate effect.
"This was accepted and he will not be returning to the workplace."
Mr Williams was a member of the police staff and not a serving officer.
