A SALISBURY portrait photographer has raised more than £4,500 while exploring the lives of children during the coronavirus lockdown.
As previously reported, Gemma Brunton wanted to document the positive impact that the Covid-19 lockdown has had on young people, including moments of learning, reunion and relationships, so launched the charitable project 'Children of Salisbury – Life After Lockdown'.
From embracing a life of home schooling to finding new hobbies and exploring the outdoors, Gemma has been busy over the last few months photographing children with a mixture of backgrounds and stories, to reflect what this time has been like for younger people and act as a positive visual to look back on years later.
One photograph, pictured above, illustrates a boy's understanding and appreciation of healthcare as he draws the symbolic rainbow, after watching his mother as an NHS worker throughout the pandemic.
With her project now drawing to a close Gemma is now finalising the last shoots, and on completion images of around 100 children will feature in a special limited edition archival book.
By launching 'Children of Salisbury', Gemma has now raised around £4,700 for charities Stars Appeal and Action for Children.
She also received a 'thank you' message from Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire Sarah Rose Troughton, on behalf of Her Majesty.
The book will be published in December, permitting Covid-19 measures do not halt the final shoots.
