A barn holding 200 tonnes of hay near Winkleigh caught fire yesterday afternoon (Thursday, October 21).
Firefighters were called just after 3pm and appliances from North Tawton and Hatherleigh were sent to the hay barn in Broadwoodkelly.
They arrived to find the barn alight with 200 tonnes of hay inside, with the fire being in the centre of the hay stack.

After starting to fight the fire, crews called for further assistance from Torrington Fire Station.
The farmer removed bales from the barn with a telehandler, which gave better access for the crews.
