MORE than 180 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on October 20, 185 people tested positive in the county.

129 of these came in the BCP Council area, meaning 2,512 have tested positive since the start of the pandemic.

In the seven days leading up to October 15, there were 121.2 cases per 100,000 in the BCP Council area.

In the Dorset Council area, 56 people tested positive, meaning 1,345 have since the started of the pandemic and the rate in the seven days leading up to October 15 was 62.6 per 100,000.

Elsewhere, 25 people tested positive in the New Forest, taking the total to 866, a rolling rate of 61.6 per 100,000 people.
