Two suspected poaching incidents – including a deer found dead in woods – have prompted a warning from police for people to stay alert in the countryside.
Bridport police said there was an incident of criminal damage to a padlock and wire of a gate to fields in the Corscombe area last week. Unknown offenders then entered the field driving over and damaging newly sown crops, 'likely for the purpose of poaching or coursing'.

Bridport police also said the remains of a deer were found in woods in the area of Hilfield, 'likely linked to poachers.'
A police spokesman said: "Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us on 101. If you witness any crimes in progress, please call us on 999."
