MEMBERS of the public managed to put out a fire before firefighters arrived.
Two engines were sent to reports of a property fire in Massingham Park, Taunton, at 10.25am today (Tuesday).
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Upon arrival this was found to be a fire within the kitchen.
"The fire had been extinguished by members of the public prior to fire service arrival.
"The fire had been caused by overheating of cooking oil whilst in a pan on the hob.
"Crews used positive pressure fan to ventilate property and make area safe."
