A PASSENGER has raised concerns about social distancing on trains after a group of children squeezed into a carriage she was.

Kim 'Bobby' Smith said: "At least three schools in the area have recorded cases of the virus, what is it going to take, a child death for the precautions to be taken seriously? They may be school children, but they are young adults and should understand the risks to others as well as to themselves, no excuse for ignorance!"

Lisa Hudson said: "The parents and school have raised concerns as well - with many resorting to other travel methods since school reopened."

Clare Luddy said: "I wouldn't advise anybody to get the 15:26 during the week leaving from Grange heading to Barrow as it picks up the Ulverston Victoria and Dowdales School Kids, its horrendous! No Social Distancing and packed to the rafters, shouting up and down the aisles and no masks! There was a Northern 'Police Officer' in the Carriage but he did nothing!"

Kelly Atkinson said: "I get the school train every morning because I work in Ulverston and it is always packed with the kids not wearing masks. There should be more carriages for the school trains."

Lori Boo Robbo said: "The children should all wear masks unless anyone has a medical complaint. It’s terrible, and this virus will never ease."

Luke Higgins said: "Northern rail always have more than enough carriages readily available to ensure nobody will ever have to stand. There really is no excuse for this."

Luke Robinson said: "Get a grip or use your brain and get a later train. Northern should put more carriages on but blaming kids, need to stop looking down your brown nose. Remember how hard life is at the moment for kids as well, we were all young once. Maybe bring the cane back while you're at, whip them into line and order. I was on it on Monday and they were all well behaved."

John Phil: "How is this still happening?"
