A CHILD has been hit by a car while walking to school.
A pupil at Budmouth Academy, in Weymouth, has been knocked down by a car as he walked into school at around 8.15am this morning.
The boy, aged 16-years-old, was seen lying on the ground outside the school by a parent dropping off her daughter.
The parent said: "I had just dropped my daughter off and I saw a car parked on the crossing by Budmouth which I thought was a weird place to park.
"As I got closer I saw that there was no one in the car and a boy was lying on the ground. A lady, who I think must have been driving the car that hit him, was holding him and he was leaning back against her knees.
"I expect she just didn't see him because the sun was so low and bright in the sky which makes it so difficult to see the kids walking into school. That corner is mayhem."
Police were called to the school at around 8.30am.
The boy has been taken to hospital in an ambulance. His injuries are not life-threatening.
