There were lights, cameras and plenty of action last night when a cinema in mid Cornwall started coming apart in the strong winds.

With some strong gusts hitting the county over the last few days, the Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay began to feel the effects.

Large pieces of cladding started coming loose and flapping in the wind, creating a potentially dangerous situation for passersby.

The station later posted pictures on its Facebook page, saying: "Wow what a windy night! It didn’t stop us attending Lighthouse Cinema Newquay though for a late night bit of DIY.

"We used Newquay’s own telescopic fire ladder to remove large pieces of dangerously loose cladding safely before any further damage was caused."

The spokesperson went on to add that it was "not just fires" that firefighters deal with to keep people safe.
