A VAN was severely damaged in a suspected arson attack in Taunton late last night (Friday, August 28).
Firefighters were sent to Alfred Street at 12.40am after receiving several calls from members of the public reporting a van on fire.
On arrival the incident commander confirmed the van was well alight and got to work to tackle the fire using breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "The fire caused 100 per cent damage to the engine compartment and partial damage to the rest of the van.
"Police were in attendance as the fire was suspected to have been started deliberately."
