A splendid entry yet again increased in number from previous weeks with a fair proportion of premium butchers’ types seeing thirteen bullocks over £2/kilo!
A super run of seven prime Limousin x cattle from Messrs. W.T. Bryant & Sons of St. Martin topped the averages with steers to 223p/kg and heifers to 220p/kg, bought by J.V. Richards Ltd of Perranwell Station and David King of Exeter respectively.
A Charolais x stood top value heifer at £1,322 for Messrs. A.J. & S.T. Richards of St. Keverne bought by J.V. Richards Ltd.
Four steers over £1,500 with an 841kg Limousin x from Messrs. R.E, G.L. & M.R. Body of Hayle realising a massive £1,590, and an 890kg Charolais x from J.B. Old Farms Ltd of Treyarnon at £1,575, both bought by David King.

A similar number to last week with a good choice of single-suckled and dairy crosses on offer.
Trade remains strong with no shortage of grass available.
A 22 month old Charolais x steer pair topped the day at £1,050 for Mr. D. Rounsevell of Veryan whose heifer pair also led at £930.
Further entries of younger Charolais meeting keen demand with ten pure-bred steers from Messrs. W.F. Palmer & Son of Ruan High Lanes seeing half around 16 months old selling at £1,005 apiece.
A cracking entry of 19 Limousin and South Devon crosses from Messrs. T.F. & D.J. Crapp of Helston saw a 14 month old Limousin x steer trio hit £920, with heifers topping at £850 for half a dozen 18 month old South Devon crosses.

The well-finished types were in demand, with leaner sorts less sought after.

Two further pens of smart Texel crosses from W.F. Teagle of Trevithick, Newquay sold at £142.
Three pens of Charollais x Dorset 2T ewes on behalf of Mr. P.L. Batten of St. Columb all realised £145.
A pair of Badgerface 2T ewes from Miss K. Widdows of Threemilestone, Truro sold at £132.
The sale included a part flock reduction on behalf of Messrs. S.W. & M.A. Poad of Blunts, Saltash with Suffolk x Mule 2Ts to £124; 6T Dorset x to £106 and FM Dorset x to £100.
Two pens of well-grown January-born Dorset x Charollais ewe lambs from Mrs. C.J. Opie of Liskeard achieved £135.
