A WEATHER warning is in place for Somerset and much of the South West for today (Thursday, August 21) and tomorrow with Storm Ellen expected to cause some disruption for large parts of the UK.

The weather today will be mostly dry with a maximum temperature of 22°C although there will be some strong winds later in the day, with a risk of coastal gales.

However tonight heavy rain will push in from the West and spread across much of the South West region through the night, becoming very windy at times.

There are yellow weather warnings in place for wind for Thursday and Friday, with the Met Office warning that there could be some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport, and some damage to trees with debris on roads are possible.

Friday's forecast for the South West is for it to be mostly dry with the odd shower.

There will be wet spells, some sunshine and strong winds.

The outlook isn't great for the weekend either, with outbreaks of rain and strong winds on Saturday, and similar conditions but with the winds easing on Sunday.
