Huge quantities of blood can be seen leading from one of Helston's town car parks this morning, leading to concern over what had happened - and why it still hadn't been cleaned up.

The long trail of blood leads from the Tyacke Road car park and along the length of Coinage Ope.

Further inspection of the area shows a car in the car park with a smashed front passenger window and police tape around the car.

The blood was still on display as visitors arrived in the town this morning to use the car park.

It has left one businessman angry over why it had not been cleaned up - both on a public safely level and also the appearance that it must give to anyone visiting the town.

Mark Barrow from Key Express, in Coinage Ope, said: "The council go on about safety in our town with closing the main road for three weeks - which killed our business - and socially distancing, but do nothing about blood everywhere.

"It's shocking. Visitors must think it’s a war town."

He added that he had contacted the council to report it, but had not heard anything back.

"Another bad night in Helston and the council don’t want to know. Visitors having to jump to avoid blood is not good for our business," he said.

A duty force incident manager (FIM) for Devon and Cornwall Police said that a number of calls had been made to police about someone with a bleeding arm in Tyacke Road at 4.41am.

He said: "Someone has broken a window and hurt their arm.

"The man has slipped on some glass and cut his arm, which was bleeding profusely."

The FIM said the report went on to say that there was "a blood trail approximately 100 yards down the road."

The man was treated by ambulance staff and the incident has been recorded as criminal damage, he added.

Helston mayor John Martin told the Packet this afternoon that the town warden had called in Biffa to clean up the blood.
