A CONSTRUCTION project in Taunton has been shortlisted for a property award.

The Woolaway homes scheme in Priorswood has been recognised by Michaelmores Property Awards for its ‘sensitively handled, construction-led proposal and the economic, environmental, and social benefits’ the development will bring to the area.

Somerset West and Taunton Council granted planning permission to replace or refurbish the Woolaway homes in April last year after they were declared “defective” by central government in the mid-1980s.

The awards recognise the very best South West property and construction schemes, as well as the teams involved.

Emma Honey, partner and head of the real estate team at Michelmores LLP, said: "This year's shortlist reflects the exceptional quality of the development that has taken place over the last year.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in this year's shortlisted projects - we look forward to revealing this year's esteemed winners at a virtual event on 12 November."

The Taunton project has been shortlisted in the Masterplanning for the Future category.

Two other properties in Somerset have been shortlisted for the awards, including Locksbrook Campus (Project of the Year) at Bath Spa University and Hope House (Residential Project of the Year) in Bath.
