SEVERAL community organisations could benefit from grants from Westbury Town Council.
The council’s finance committee on Monday, August 10 recommended the grants be approved by full council.
They include £600 to POPCAN, £400 to Wessex MS Therapy Centre, £350 to Westbury French Twinning Association, while Splash gets free use of The Laverton
Councillors also recommended approval for £3,000 to the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust for improvements on the River Biss.
The total amount requested by the Trust was £6,000. The council will be asked to fund the other £3,000 if the Westbury Area Board cannot do so.
The committee also approved an additional £1,000 to Abraham’s Kitchen as part of the Laverton Institute Trust.
The money will be put towards a Cook At Home project which Abraham’s Kitchen was unable to provide due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. The aim is to deliver monthly packs to 50 recipients at a cost of £10 per pack or £500 per month.
